Every day, we at Terrell • Hogan, represent victims of personal injury and wrongful death as they seek justice, and lawsuits we have pursued have prompted safety changes.  However, that came after the incidents, accidents and injuries happened. We believe it is important to try to help prevent injuries and wrongful deaths. One way is to publish information about recalls of defective and dangerous products.

Briggs & Stratton Recalls YTL, Longli and TIYA Log Splitters with Briggs & Stratton® Engines Due to Injury Hazard – An incorrect engine ignition coil and flywheel can lead to hard starting and engine kick back, posing an injury hazard to the operator.

Leisure Time Products Recalls Brutus Swing Sets Due to Injury Hazard – The attachment that connects the swing hanger to the top tube can fail, posing an injury hazard.

K & M International Recalls Slap Watches Due to Coin Cell Battery Ingestion and Choking Hazards – The coin cell battery inside the slap watches can fall out, posing battery ingestion and choking hazards to young children.

Hyundai Recalls More Vehicles for Fire Risk – The latest fire risk recalls include Santa Fe Sport, Elantra, Kona, and Veloster models. Hyundai warning owners to park outside.

Kidde Recalls TruSense Smoke and Combination Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarms Due to Risk of Failure to Alert Consumers to a Fire – The smoke alarm and the combination smoke/carbon monoxide (CO) alarm can fail to alert consumers to a fire.

Kolcraft Reannounces Recall of Inclined Sleeper Accessory and Urges Consumers to Act Now to Prevent Risk of Suffocation – Infant fatalities have been reported with other manufacturers’ inclined sleep products, after the infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side, or under other circumstances.  

Peloton Recalls Tread+ Treadmills After One Child Died and More than 70 Incidents Reported – 1) Adult users, children, pets and objects can be pulled underneath the rear of the treadmill, posing a risk of injury or death. 2) The touchscreen on the treadmill can detach and fall, posing a risk of injury to consumers.

CPSC Warns Consumers to Stop Use of Three Models of Adult Portable Bed Rails Manufactured by Bed Handles, Inc., Due to Entrapment, Asphyxia Hazard – CPSC evaluated the bed rails and found that they can allow an individual to become entrapped between the bed rail and mattress, or within the portions of the bed rail itself, leading to asphyxia.  

YYBA Recalls Welmate Lidocaine Numbing Cream Due to Failure to Meet Child Resistant Packaging Requirement; Risk of Poisoning – The packaging is not child resistant as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.  The pain relieving cream contains lidocaine, posing a risk of poisoning to young children if they put it on their skin or ingest it.

UST Recalls Bottles of LifeSeasons Blood Nourish-R Due to Failure to Meet Child Resistant Packaging Requirement; Risk of Poisoning – The product is a dietary supplement containing iron, which must be in child resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).  The packaging of the product is not child resistant, posing a poisoning risk if the contents are swallowed by young children.

Kia Soul and Selto recalled for Engine Stall and Fire – Kia Soul and Selto vehicles have been recalled for engine stall and fire risk. Some may require replacement engines.

Metal Ware Recalls NESCO Coffee Bean Roasters Due to Fire Hazard – The coffee bean roasters can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Two New Subaru Recalls Issued to Repair Engine and Suspension – Two new Subaru recalls, one for engine stall and another rear suspension, add up to over 870,000 autos called back into dealerships. Crosstrek, Impreza, and Forester are affected.

Target Recalls Cat & Jack Baby Rompers Due to Choking Hazard – The heart-shaped graphics located on the knees of the romper can peel off or detach, posing a choking hazard to children.

Playgro Recalls Infant Activity Rattles Due to Choking Hazard – The abacus ring on the horse’s back can dislodge and release the small beads, posing a choking hazard to small children.

Battat Recalls Infant Teethers Due to Choking Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Target– The plastic wings can detach from the body of the teether, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Infiniti Recalls 26,000 Vehicles Due to Airbag Tear – Front passenger airbags could tear when they deploy. This is due to internal pressure from the airbag cushions failing to be folded properly.

Verizon Recalls 2.5 Million Ellipsis Jetpack Mobile Hotspots Due to Fire and Burn Hazards – The lithium-ion battery in the hotspots can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.

One Million Greenworks and Powerworks Pressure Washer Spray Guns Recalled Due to Impact Injury Hazard; Distributed by Hongkong Sun Rise Trading – The spray gun connector can break, causing the hose and/or parts of the connector to become dislodged during use, posing an impact injury hazard to the user. 

RH Recalls Children’s Bath Wraps Due to Violation of Federal Flammability Standard – The recalled bath wraps fail to meet flammability standards for children’s sleepwear, posing a risk of burn injuries to children.

dōTERRA Recalls 1.3 Million Bottles of Deep Blue, PastTense, and Deep Blue Touch Essential Oils Due to Failure to Meet Child Resistant Packaging Requirement; Risk of Poisoning – The products contain the substance methyl salicylate, which must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).  The packaging of the products is not child-resistant, posing a risk of poisoning if the contents are applied to the skin or swallowed by young children.

Infant Bath Seats Recalled Due to Drowning Hazard; Imported by BATTOP; Sold Exclusively on Amazon.com – The bath seats fail to meet the federal safety standard for infant bath seats, including requirements for stability, and can tip over while in use, posing a drowning hazard to babies.

Honda, Acura Recall 628K Vehicles for Faulty Fuel Pump – Safety Recall Report 21V-215 reports recalls on Acura MDX, MDX Sport Hybrid, RDX, TLX, Honda Accord, Civic Hatchback, Insight, Acura ILX, Honda Accord Hybrid, Civic Coupe, Civic Coupe Si, Civic Sedan, Civic Sedan Si, Civic Type R, Fit, HR-V, Odyssey, Passport, Pilot and Ridgeline, and CR-V vehicles.

HD Hudson Recalls Battery-Powered Sprayers Due to Fire Hazard – The sprayer’s lithium-ion battery can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Lifetime Products Recalls 6-Foot Seminar Tables Due to Injury Risk – The brace arms can fail to lock the table legs into place and the table can collapse, posing an injury risk to consumers.

Hillsdale Furniture Recalls Jennings Counter and Bar Stools Due to Fall Hazard – The stool seat can break off the base, posing a fall hazard.  

Urban Outfitters Recalls Margo Taper Candle Holders Due to Fire Hazard – The candle holders can catch on fire if they come in contact with the candle’s flame, posing a fire hazard.

SmartPool Recalls Children’s Multi-Purpose Helmets Due to Risk of Head Injury – The recalled helmets were incorrectly advertised and marketed for children aged 2 years or older.  However, the recalled helmets do not comply with minimum safety requirements for children younger than 5 and pose a risk of head injury to those children.

Potter Electric Recalls Addressable Pull Stations Single/Dual Action Due to Failure to Alert to Fire – The pull handle on some units can fail to activate the fire alarm system when manually pulled, posing a risk of failure to alert consumers to a fire.

Northern Tool & Equipment Recalls Powerhorse Portable Generators Due to Shock Hazard – The portable generators have a wiring error which can result in an electrical shock to users.

Ford Issues Another Airbag Recall – Ford issues another airbag recall due to Takata inflators. Safety Recall Report Report 21V-081 reports recalls on certain 2005-2014 Mustang, 2004-2012 Ranger, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2005-2006 Ford GT, 2006-2012 Fusion, 2007-2010 Edge and Lincoln MKX, and 2006-2012 Lincoln MKZ vehicles.

 

Jimco Lamps Recalls Accent Tables with Charging Receptacles Due to Shock Hazard – The convenience charging receptacles and/or USB ports installed in the accent tables can have an electrical issue resulting in reverse polarity, which can pose a shock hazard to the user.

Toro Recalls Power Max Snowthrowers Due to Amputation Hazard – The auger can fail to disengage when the control lever is released, posing an amputation hazard.

National Presto Recalls Smokers Due to Electric Shock Hazard – The heating element/wiring on the smoker is defective, posing an electric shock hazard to consumers.

Anker Play Products Recalls 10-in-1 Incredible Inventions Science Kit Due to Violation of the Federal Lead Paint Ban – Paint on the red and blue magnet contains levels of lead that exceed the federal lead paint ban.  Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues.  In addition, the product packaging lacks the required warning labels for magnets and balloons.

NZXT Recalls H1 Computer Cases Due to Fire Hazard – Metal screws in the assembly can cause a short in the circuit board. Overheating can pose a fire hazard due to the circuit board’s design.

NDAL MFG INC Issues Voluntary Nationwide Recall of ManukaGuard Allercleanse Nasal Spray Due to Contamination with Yeast – The use of Allercleanse (manuka honey) nasal spray contaminated with yeasts, in the population most likely to use it (children, adults, and elderly), may result in adverse events that necessitate medical or surgical intervention. However, use of this contaminated product in immunosuppressed individuals may result in life-threatening invasive fungal infections. 

Hickory Harvest Foods Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Almonds in Sprouts Vanilla Flavored Yogurt Covered Cranberries – Vanilla Flavored Yogurt Covered Cranberries manufactured under the brand of Sprouts Farmers Market may contain undeclared Almonds.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Almonds run the risk of serious or life- threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. Is Voluntarily Recalling Two Lot Codes of Dole™ Sunflower Crunch Chopped Salad Kit – This recall is due to possible undeclared allergens (wheat and tree nuts) in Dole™ Sunflower Crunch Chopped Salad Kit. The dressing and topping kit (masterpack) designed for a different Dole product was unintentionally used during a portion of the production of the salad. 

Nautilus Recalls Bowflex SelectTech Barbells Due to Impact Injury Hazard – A weight plate can fall from the end of the barbell, posing an impact injury hazard.

Edsal Recalls 2.2 Million Shelving Units Due to Injury Hazard – The shelves can fail to support the 800-pound weight load as stated on the packaging, posing an injury hazard to the consumer. 

Enerco Group Recalls DeWALT Cordless Kerosene Heaters Due to Fire and Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Hazards – The heaters can re-start unexpectedly while in standby mode if the room temperature falls below the thermostat set point, posing fire and carbon monoxide poisoning hazards.

Victory Innovations Recalls Electrostatic Sprayers with Lithium-ion Battery Packs Due to Fire and Explosion Hazards – The sprayer’s rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack can overheat and melt, posing a risk of the product catching fire and/or exploding.

Ford to Recall 3 Million Vehicles with Takata Airbags – The current Ford recall affects the following vehicles: 2007-2010 Ford Edge; 2006-2012 Ford Fusion; 2005-2006 Ford GT; 2005-2014 Ford Mustang; 2004-2011 Ford Ranger; Lincoln MKZ/Zephyr (2006-2012), MKX (2007-2010) and Mercury Milan (2006-2011) vehicles.

CB2 Recalls Junction Tall Chests and Low Dressers Due to Tip-Over and Entrapment Hazards – The recalled chests and dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, posing serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in death or injuries to children. 

Daimler Freightliners Recalled for Tire Tread Separation, Blowout – Daimler has recalled over 4,000 2020 through 2022 Freightliner Cascadia sleepers that have specific Bridgestone tires on the steer axle. These tires could experience tread separation or blowouts.

House-Autry Mills Announces Voluntary Recall of House-Autry Tartar Sauce Due to Spoilage – House-Autry Mills, Inc. is voluntarily recalling 9 oz. House-Autry Tartar Sauce (60013) with the following Best By dates: BB 08182021, BB 08232021, BB 09162021, BB 09172021, BB 09182021 and BB 09212021 as a precaution, due to the company’s co-manufacturer’s verification of spoilage associated with the product. 

Bob Evans Farms Inc. Recalls Pork Sausage Product Due to Possible Foreign Matter Contamination – approximately 4,200 pounds of pork sausage product are recalled that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically thin blue rubber, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.

Rapala USA Recalls Rechargeable Fillet Knives Due to Fire Hazard – The battery can overheat and catch fire if non-Rapala chargers are used to charge the battery.

Publix Steam In Bag Product Recall – This recall is the result of notification of a recall for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination from Pero Family Farms Company, LLC, the supplier of the butternut squash ingredient.

Nestlé Prepared Foods Recalls Not-Ready-to-Eat Pepperoni Hot Pockets Product Due to Possible Foreign Matter Contamination – Nestlé Prepared Foods, a Mt. Sterling, Ky. establishment, is recalling pepperoni hot pockets product that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically pieces of glass and hard plastic.

Scalpa Recalls Scalpa Numb Maximum Strength Topical Anesthetic Cream Due to Failure to Meet Child Resistant Packaging Requirement; Risk of Poisoning – The product contains the substance lidocaine which must be in child resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).  The packaging of the product is not child resistant, posing a risk of poisoning to young children.

Sea to Summit Recalls Camping Pots Due to Burn and Scald Hazards –  The nylon latch can disengage from the pot and cause the handle to detach, posing burn and scald hazards.

Juratoys Recalls Toy Trumpets Due to Choking Hazard – The small plastic pieces inside the toy trumpets can come loose and can be ingested by children, posing a choking hazard.

Fire Risk Escalates Hyundai SUV Recall – An electrical short in the Anti-lock Brake module may increase the risk of an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. Hyundai recommends parking these vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall repairs are complete. Hyundai will notify owners and dealers will replace the ABS module fuse.

GM Recalls for Suspension and Safety Belt Trouble – Two new General Motors recalls: 1) Rear toe links may have been overcoated during production, leading to chipping, exposed metal corrosion. 2) Front-row center seat-belt brackets may not be properly secured to seat frame.

Academy Sports + Outdoors Recalls Ozone 500 Density Bicycles Due to Fall and Injury Hazards – The locking hardware on the front wheel can become loose resulting in front wheel instability, posing fall and injury hazards.

Additional Lots of Extended Metformin are Recalled for NDMA Contamination – NDMA contamination has been triggering warnings and recalls on multiple drugs. NDMA is classified as a probable human carcinogen. Exposure to this compound can increase cancer risk as well as organ and bone marrow damage, tumors, and gene mutation.

Rust-Oleum Recalls Aerosol Paint Due to Injury Hazard – The bottom of the pressurized container can detach unexpectedly, posing an injury hazard.

Massimo Motor Sports Recalls Percussion Massage Guns Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Costco – The lithium-ion battery system can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Target Recalls Infant-Toddler Girl’s One-Piece Rashguard Swimsuits Due to Choking Hazard – The snaps can break or detach from the suits, posing choking and laceration hazards to children.

Target Recalls Infant Rompers Due to Choking Hazard – The snaps can break or detach from the rompers, posing a choking, laceration and pinching hazards to children.

Urban Outfitters Recalls Taper Candle Holders Due to Fire Hazard – The candle holders can catch on fire if they come in contact with the candle’s flame, posing a fire hazard. 

GSK Consumer Health Recalls Five Excedrin Brands Due to Failure to Meet Child Resistant Packaging Requirement; Risk of Poisoning Some of the bottles containing the over-the-counter drug can have a hole in the bottom. If there is a hole, children could access and swallow the contents.

Hampton Bay ceiling fan sold exclusively at Home Depot.47 reports of blades detaching from the fan, including two reports of the fan blade hitting a consumer.

Tesoros Trading Company Recalls Product Because of Possible Health Risk – “Trader Joe’s Lightly Salted Edamame” potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, frail or elderly people, others with weakened immune systems.

Graco Recalls Inclined Sleeper Accessory Included with Four Models of Playards to Prevent Risk of Suffocation – Infant fatalities have been reported with other manufacturers’ inclined sleep products after infants rolled from their back to their stomach or side while unrestrained, or under other circumstances.

Camp Chef Recalls Portable Gas Stoves Due to Fire Hazard – An internal part of the gas regulator component can have a sharp edge that can wear or tear a hole in the seal causing gas to leak out of the top of the regulator, posing a fire hazard.

Scentsy Recalls Electrical Oil Warmers Due to Fire Hazard – Corrosion of electrical components in Scentsy Luminary Jack Warmers and Scentsy Bless This Home Warmers poses a fire hazard.

Washington Shoe Company Recalls Western Chief Toddler Boots Due to Choking Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Target – Rivets used to attach the handles to the boot can detach, posing a choking hazard to children.

L G Sourcing Recalls to Repair Electric Fireplaces Due to Fire Hazard; Sold Exclusively at Lowe’s Stores – Wiring connectors in the fireplace can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

Spirit Halloween Recalls Children’s Flashlights Due to Fire and Burn Hazards – The batteries in the flashlight can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.

Fiskars Brands Recalls 16 Foot Pole Saw/Pruners Due to Laceration Hazard – The telescoping poles of the pole saw/pruner can separate, causing the poles to come apart and fall down and the saw blade and pruner head to drop, posing a laceration hazard.

Black & Decker Recalls CRAFTSMAN 10-Inch Corded Chain Saws Due to Laceration Hazard – The chain saw can start unexpectedly without operation of the switch when the extension cord adaptor is connected upside down, posing a laceration hazard.

295,000 Kias Recalled for Fire Risk – Engine compartment fires may occur. Kia currently has not identified the cause of these fires, though is recalling vehicles as a preventive measure to mitigate any unreasonable fire risk to oil or fuel leaks, or engine damage.

Huffy Recalls Torex Ride-on Toy UTVs Due to Injury Hazard – Sold Exclusively at Walmart. This ride-on toy can unexpectedly move when connecting the battery after recharging, posing an injury hazard.

6 Million Vehicles Involved in GM Airbag Recall – Chevy Avalanche, Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban and, GMC Sierra and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade are among the models covered in this global GM Takata recall.

Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers – Recalled by Sunbeam Products Due to Burn Hazard.

Toyota & Lexus fuel pump recall expanding to include 2017-2020 models. Drivers have reported check engine and master warning indicators engaging, rough engine running, not starting and vehicle stalling while driving slowly.

68,000 Chevrolet Bolts recalled – Investigation PE 20-016 references 3 Chevy Bolt fires. 2 homeowners reported fires, 1 of which suffered smoke inhalation injuries. Fires reportedly started under the rear seat in parked vehicles.

Kohl’s Recalls Three-Wick SONOMA Goods For Life Branded Candles Due to Fire and Burn Hazards – The candle’s high flames can ignite the surface of the wax or cause the glass to break, posing fire and burn hazards.  

Fire Pit Tables Sold Exclusively at Big Lots Recalled Due to Fire Hazard– An incorrectly installed burner kit hose can melt and ignite, posing a fire hazard. 

350,000 Ring Doorbells Recalled for Fire Hazard – Amazon’s Ring is recalling roughly 350,000 doorbells due to multiple reports of injuries and property damage after the doorbells overheated and caught fire.

217,000 General Motors Vehicles Recalled: Missing Parts May Lead to Stalling or Fire – Transmission fluid leak may lead to a complete stall in traffic or fire when leaked onto extreme heat surfaces. Over 70,000 Hyundai Kona Electric recalled – Safety Recall Report 20V-630 references 10 Hyundai Kona fires. Hyundai suspects defective production of high-voltage batteries used in these vehicles, which may have contributed to fires in parked vehicles.

BMW issued a global recall of all 2021 hybrid models due to fire risk. Safety Recall Report 20V-601 references 4 BMW hybrid electric vehicle fires. They suspect that debris may have entered one or more of the hybrid battery cells during production.
