Mazda Recalling Vehicles for Rear Hatch Defects

Mazda is recalling 2.2 million vehicles worldwide including 580,455 in the U.S. because the rear door hatch could lose its support, fall and cause injury. Mazda reported insufficient coating protection on the supports that hold up the rear hatch can become corroded over time by water containing road salt.
The recall covers Mazda 3 cars from the 2010-2013 model years, Mazda 5 vans from the 2012-2015 model years and certain CX-5 and CX-3 crossovers from the 2016 model year. For the complete NHTSA recall, click here.
