Ford Motor Co. is recalling almost 1.2 million SUVs and sedans for possible loss of power steering. The recall includes:

• 179,027 2011 to 2013 Explorer SUVs defects with an electrical connection in the steering gear that may result in the loss of electric power steering assist while driving;

• 740,878 008-2011 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner SUVs for a defect with the torque sensor in the steering column;

• 183,425 2010-2014 Taurus sedans in North America from the 2010 to 2014 for a corrosion issue;

• 82,576 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ sedans for defects with the floor mats that may interfere with the operation of accelerator pedals.

Ford states that it is aware of 15 accidents related to the loss of power steering in the Explorers. Two of the accidents resulted in minor injuries.
