Fire Risk Escalates Hyundai SUV Recall

Over 470,000 Hyundai SUVs added to recent fire risk recall. Hyundai warning owners to park outside.

The Safety Recall Report 20V-543,  reporting recalls on Hyundai Tucson, years 2016-2021. It’s currently estimated that 1% will have the defect.

The Defect

An electrical short in the Anti-lock Brake module may increase the risk of an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. The automaker believes that heat or humidity may be contributing to electrical shorts in the braking main controller board.

The Remedy

Hyundai recommends parking these vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall repairs are complete. Hyundai will notify owners and dealers will replace the ABS module fuse.

If you have one of these vehicles, be on the lookout for recall notifications. It is a good idea to regularly check for vehicle recalls with NHTSA.
