When Alan Pickert isn’t in the courtroom successfully representing clients of the law firm of Terrell • Hogan, he spends much of his free time running the non profit foundation for autistic children in North Florida called HEAL (“Healing Every Autistic Life”). As President of HEAL, Alan is involved in raising funds for HEAL’s numerous summer camps, after school programs, and sports’ leagues for children on the autism spectrum. This past year alone, HEAL helped over 600 autistic children in the surrounding five counties of North Florida and now they are trying to reach even more children by way of the iHEAL /iPad initiative. Alan summed it up succinctly by saying “Simply put, we are trying to donate an iPad in every special needs classroom in Duval, St. Johns, Clay, Baker and Nassau counties. The use of technology, especially iPads, have shown to be tremendously helpful to special needs children to communicate. The school budget doesn’t have the funds so we are stepping in to fill this much needed void.”
