Did you know that when you rent a car, the car rental company is not under a statutory obligation to fix their rental vehicles or to inform consumers who rent those vehicles that they have been recalled? Some rental companies can be slow to repair recalled vehicles yet continue to rent unrepaired, recalled vehicles.
Before you rent a vehicle to travel with your family on vacation or for business, make sure that vehicle has not been recalled, and, if it has been recalled, that the rental car company has gotten the car fixed. Even though some rental car companies have pledged not to rent recalled cars, Hertz is the only one we know of that puts it in writing.
