Wayne Hogan Featured in Florida Justice Association Journal for A Legacy of Preparing Future Leaders

We are proud to share that Wayne Hogan, a founding member of Terrell Hogan Law, has been prominently featured in the Florida Justice Association® (FJA®) Journal® for his lifelong contributions to trial advocacy and consumer justice. Alongside Chris Searcy and John Romano, Wayne was honored for leaving an “enduring legacy” in Florida—a legacy built on passion, purpose, and an unyielding commitment to protecting the rights of injured individuals.

Wayne’s recognition in this special feature is both meaningful and monumental. The Journal® article ‘LEGATE: LEADING A LEGACY OF JUSTICE’ highlights Wayne as a “unifying force” within the elite team of lawyers who brought Big Tobacco to justice in the 1990s, resulting in a groundbreaking $13 billion+ settlement for the State of Florida. His leadership helped bridge strategies and personalities to achieve one of the most significant legal victories in American history.

But Wayne’s legacy goes beyond high-profile courtroom wins. The article praises his role in “shaping the future of trial advocacy through education,” spotlighting his founding of the Honorable E. Earle Zehmer Memorial Mock Trial Competition nearly 30 years ago. This program has become a respected training ground for aspiring trial lawyers across the Southeast, instilling both skill and ethics from day one.

Wayne also pioneered consumer protection litigation in Florida, bringing the state’s first asbestos case involving punitive damages to trial. He was among the earliest to be recognized in Consumer Law and remains the only person to receive all four of the Florida Justice Association’s major awards—the Al J. Cone (lifetime achievement), B.J. Masterson (professionalism), Perry Nichols (trial lawyering), and Victor Tipton (legal writing) Awards.

To those of us at Terrell Hogan, Wayne is more than a founding member. He is a mentor, a role model, and the embodiment of what it means to serve justice with integrity. His belief in “doing the right thing” isn’t just a mantra—it’s the reason his legacy now stands as a beacon for future generations of trial lawyers.

Congratulations, Wayne. Your work continues to inspire us all.
