The choices we make today can impact the rest of our lives.
Continuing to support Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Attorney Wayne Hogan of the Terrell • Hogan personal injury and wrongful death law firm was eager to sponsor the Walk Like MADD event held on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Hogan’s MADD Heroes, participated in the 5k walk to help raise both funds and awareness to fight drunk driving. Tammy Villarreal, Terrell • Hogan paralegal, who helped organize this year’s team for the firm, and her husband Rick said the walk brings awareness and “Awareness is key. Not letting someone get behind the wheel when they are drunk prevents tragedy on both sides.”
With the country divided by presidential politics, walkers put political differences aside and united to walk for those who no longer can and alongside those who are learning to walk again. Drunk driving is 100 percent preventable and we walked together to say enough is enough.
Day-after-day in America, another 28 people die as a result of drunk driving. MADD continuously raises awareness to help end drunk driving, to help fight drugged driving, to support the victims and to prevent underage drinking. Since MADD was founded in 1980, drunk driving deaths have been cut by 53% and over 340,000 lives have been saved. “This was my first MADD walk. I learned by listening to the stories of some of the victims that day how much MADD has helped these families cope with their loss. This organization has such a wonderful support system and treats everyone like family. It was a honor to be a part of bringing awareness to this cause,” said Terrell • Hogan paralegal, Teresa L. Howell.
When you go out on the road, you are in control. Don’t let anyone get behind the wheel if they have been drinking. Plan ahead by designating a non-drinking driver, call a taxi or Uber. Bottom line, make good choices and let’s put an end to both drunk and drugged driving.
