Bruce Maxwell, co-chair of Florida’s Children First Jacksonville (FCF) appeared on Good Morning Jacksonville on First Coast News to let the community know about the good work the organization does on behalf of area foster kids.
This leading statewide child advocacy organization will honor the people and organizations who make a difference in children’s lives at its annual reception on Thursday, November 15th at the University Club.
Maxwell and Terrell • Hogan President, Wayne Hogan, are sponsoring this year’s event. “Foster kids can fall through the cracks and desperately need advocates looking out for their rights – whether it’s a placement issue, school issue or life issue,” said Hogan.
Both Hogan and Terrell • Hogan attorney, Leslie Goller, served on the Board of Directors of Florida’s Children First, Inc. which was founded in 2001. Maxwell, Goller and Hogan support FCF because its advocacy has helped and will continue to help achieve improvement in the public systems that affect the lives of children who need someone to stand up for them.
FCF serves as a “watchdog” agency, holding DCF and others accountable, helping them do a better job at protecting the children who need their services, especially foster kids. Florida’s Children First is celebrating its 10th anniversary. To date it has received $4 million in donated professional services, including pro bono legal counsel from attorneys. It has also trained 10,000 people involved in the care of children.
