Successful Distracted Driving Awareness Month Presentation

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. On April 10, 2013, Wayne Hogan was the presenter of “One Text of Call Can Wreck It All” to members of the Democratic Women’s Information Network (“DWIN”).  “One Text or Call Can Wreck It All” is a powerful Powerpoint presentation which explores the risks of driving distracted to both yourself and to others, strategies and solutions to avoid driving distracted, civil liability for personal injury and death both individually and as an employer, and criminal charges for causing injury or death because of driving distracted.  The presentation elicited many questions, particularly about legislation concerning texting in the current Florida Legislative session. Many DWIN members stated they did not understand that using a cell phone while driving was so dangerous.  Mr. Hogan advised that the Terrell • Hogan law firm is available through its Speakers Bureau for Distracted Driving Awareness Presentations to other organizations and groups- both adult and teenagers. Several DWIN members requested presentations for other groups they are members of.

Leslie has dedicated her career to championing consumers – whether they were harmed by big corporations, dangerous products, medical mistakes, accidents, or an unsafe environment – no issue is too big for her to tackle. She successfully prevented an incinerator from being built at University Hospital (now UF-Jacksonville), which would have polluted the air with toxic chemicals and obtained significant restrictions of other Jacksonville hospital incinerators resulting in cleaner air.
