THE ST. JOHN’S RIVER FERRY SERVICE is a vital part of Northeast Florida’s local transportation system, connecting State Road A1A between Heckscher Drive and Mayport Village. The ferry is scheduled to shut down on September. 30, when its contract with the Jacksonville Port Authority expires. Right now, there’s no one ready to take over responsibility for running the ferry or the $4 million worth of needed repairs. Discontinuing this service will have profound impacts on the First Coast’s economic, transportation, and environmental interests. The Florida Department of Transportation is willing to be a partner in funding St. Johns River Ferry operations, but cannot be the sole source of funding. There is a petition drive to show lawmakers that the community supports continuation of the Ferry. Please support saving the Ferry by spreading the word about the Ferry to all your friends and family! Anyone can sign the petition, no matter who or where they are!  To learn more, click here.
