At Terrell Hogan, we think recall information is worth repeating to keep your family informed and safe. Defective and dangerous products can cause personal injuries and deaths and need to be taken out of use or repaired. In December, 2013 we notified consumers about the dangers from old and new tires. Dangers from New Tires and Old Tires. And we regularly include recall information about defective products and dangerous drugs in announcements on public radio, WJCT 89.9.

In February, 2014 the rear tire blew out causing a Florida church van on its way to a youth camp in Georgia to flip multiple times killing two adults and injuring eight others (seven of them children). It has now been determined that the tires on the van had been recalled. Church van crashed on recalled tires.

In February NHTSA announced it is taking steps to help consumers be notified about recalls. U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said “Recalls only work if consumers are aware of them.” NHTSA Announces New Mandatory Label to Help Owners Instantly Identify Recall Mailings.

In our opinion, manufacturers of recalled defective and dangerous products should do much more to get the word out. Unfortunately, such products may be around for years, despite regulators’ best efforts. Many consumers miss or never see recall notices. Officials worry about consumers lost among the recalls.

So, until there’s a solution to this worrisome problem, Terrell Hogan will continue to repeat recall information to help keep you informed and safe.
