Badger Co., Inc., which makes natural and organic body care products and purports to be the No. 1 selling sunscreen in The U.S. natural markets , has recalled ALL lots of its 4 ounce Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Baby Sunscreen Lotion (yellow tube) and 1 lot of its 4 ounce Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Kids Sunscreen Lotion (orange tube) because of microbial contamination, 3 types of infection-causing bacteria and fungi. It is important that you check the tube(s) that you have to see if they have been recalled and if so, STOP using them. The affected Lots are identified by the following UPC Codes and Lot Numbers:
Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Baby Sunscreen Lotion: UPC Codes: 634084490091 and 634084490114 and Lot Numbers: 3024A, 3057B, 3063A, 3063B, 3132A, 3133A.
SPF 30 Kids Sunscreen Lotion: UPC Codes 634084490145 and 634084490169, Lot Number 3164A.
This is of particular importance as babies and children can be more susceptible to infection than adults. The contaminants have been identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida parapsilosis, and Acremonium fungi. It is believed that the preservatives used in the sunscreen were the origin of the contamination.
