Wayne Hogan Helps First Baptist Church of Oakland Youth Explosion Prepare Over 3,000 Families for School

Vowing to continue to help children be prepared for school on day one, Wayne Hogan of the Terrell • Hogan personal injury and wrongful death Law Firm, again this year participated in the annual free back to school Youth Explosion  event hosted by Pastor Torin Dailey and First Baptist Church of Oakland.  As in previous years, several local and national partners, collaborated to provide an array of school supplies to families with children from pre-K to high school, who line up very early in the morning to receive the supplies, participate in a mini-health fair, and even get free haircuts.
This year, in addition to a financial contribution for the event, Attorney Hogan provided much utilized composition books.  “Even in the tech age, there is no substitute for excellent writing skills.  Composition books allow for expression that can be a bit lost on a keyboard,” said Hogan.  Attorney Leslie Jean Bart, and Paralegal Audrey Gibson, both with the firm, attended and distributed the books to waiting hands and opened backbacks.
Event Growing
Under Pastor Dailey’s leadership “Youth Explosion” continues to expand to provide more support for families in the community. This year’s event held at Gateway Town Center saw even more supplies donated, local radio and news participation, hundreds of volunteers, several displays of resource information on a myriad of services, including several new academies operated by the Duval County School District.
A partner in educating the community, including presentations about the dangers of distracted driving and free swimming lessons for underprivileged youth, Hogan was pleased to once again support the continuing outreach by the organizers. First Baptist Church of Oakland has a long history of helping particularly Eastside families focus on quality of life issues. “Youth Explosion” reaches well beyond the church walls, and the surrounding area, and helps children from all over the city.
