Takata Recall Increased to 34 Million Vehicles

Takata has announced that it is almost doubling the size of its immense recall for defective airbags. This is the largest auto recall in history. Takata has already recalled 18 million vehicles for faulty airbags.
The defective Takata airbags are being attributed to at least five deaths and numerous injuries including vision damage. The airbags can explode and propel shrapnel into the face and body of drivers and front seat passengers.
NHTSA initially approved a limited recall, but has since gone on to force Tataka and 11 automakers to increase the recall. Takata has also been fined by NHTSA $14,000 a day for refusing to cooperate with its investigation.
