Fiat Chrysler Fined Record $105 Million for Safety Problems

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, it announced a settlement with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles on Sunday for failing to repair vehicles with safety defects stemming from 23 recalls affecting 11 million vehicles.
Under the terms of the consent order, the automaker agreed to pay a record $105 million fine, submit to rigorous federal oversight for three years and buy back up to 500,000 vehicles with defective suspension parts that could cause the vehicles to lose control. In addition, the owners of more than one million Jeeps – that are prone to deadly fires – will have the choice of either trading in their vehicle or receiving a financial incentive to get their vehicle repaired.  Click here for more information.
